自動書記(第1日目)

I woke up at 4, just one hour before the time i usually wake up. did quick web browsing and updated some iknow stuff. took shower and started ironing my shirts and pants. it was already 6:30 and took a while to figure out how to turn on the iron. (i had to turn on the switch at the power plug) a few min after 7, i went down to okra to get breakfast. croissant and pork sausage made the base of my breakfast. i couldn't help taking ham and smoked salmon (i should've gone to scandinavian countries rather than india). after i signed the bill which came out 600 rupee (=$15), i decided to take another round of buffet. lack of energy on the first day is not good anyway. litchi juice was nice and sweet. when i went upstairs, of course, my stomach complained. probably the salmon. come on, my rational thought, do your job. i went down at 8, the time we were supposed to meet at the lobby and get the car. v came down a few min after, but she didn't have breakfast. i got 15min to do some reading. i had japanese translation of 7 habits and had to sort of spec out what i needed to do for today. of course, i couldn't work much. remember, it's a hotel lobby, not an office. when v came out from her breakfast and we came out to find the car, of course we didn't have the car. moreover, there wasn't any arrangement for the car service under our name or the office we were going to. good start. very indian way. so, v started making a few phone calls. they didn't pick up the call so she left a message to ask them to double-check our car service and make the reservation if there was none for some reason. once they got back to v, she had to make crystal clear that we are not going to have two cars. good point. so, one of them made an arrangement and she said it will be coming in 30 min. cool, if that's the case. and of course not. well, to tell you about the background story, a week before they got all the managers coming from my company (the office i'm visiting is our outsourcing vendor). they were literally crazy to prepare all the hospitality, including parties, dinners and cricket game (team US vs team india). after the storm is gone, they are surely having a nice and relaxing week -- indian way. and of course, who cares about the remaining software engineers? after an hour later, i came out to double-check if the car has already arrived. of course, not. 'i'll tell you when it comes' that's what the doorman said. ok, i trust you. finally the car came around 9:15 and we left the hotel.
